New College Program
College Advisory Program
The Alaska Rush Soccer Club is proud to provide a number of programs outside the normal realm of training, competition, and soccer related activities. One of those programs is the College Advisory Program or C.A.P. This program is provided to our boys and girls teams U15 to U19.
The program is set up to serve the college bound player in a number of different areas. Starting with the freshman year of high school and continuing through their senior year, this program provides information in such areas as:
- College Preparation
- Admissions Counseling
- College Athletics
- College Contact Preparation
- ACT/SAT Guide
- College Research Assistance
C.A.P. is designed to serve the high school age student and provide them with an avenue to ask questions, perform research, and provide feedback for both the academic and athletic aspects of their collegiate career. The Alaska Rush accomplishes this by meeting with each team during their seasonal year to provide:
- information on both academic and athletic endeavors;
- review any information that the players may have prepared themselves;
- discuss any questions that they players may have;
- discuss any questions that the parents may have.
- Wednesday, October 9th, 7:30-9pm at the Rush Office
This presentation, now adapted specifically for the Rush CAP program, has been presented at the American School Counselor Conference as well as the AK Counseling state association conference. We will share information and materials on school research, details of the complex recruiting process, timeline of steps to take sophomore to senior year, tools to assist in the process (i.e Playerocity), how to market yourself to prospective coaches, and scholarship information.
- First Saturday of every month; October through March, 10-11am at SteamDot Coffee & Espresso Lab
Questions about the recruiting process? Need help with school research? Want to check if you are on track with everything you should be doing? CAP director Dan Rufner will be open for individual and group discussions in an informal setting to provide assistance in any aspect of the college admission and athletic recruiting process. Dan has numerous resources from work counselor in ASD since 2001 (currently The Seminar School counselor at Service), attendance at multiple national conferences with the National Association for College Admission Counselor and American School Counselor Association, and assistance provided to over 200 athletes from all sports on to college play through private practice in educational consulting.
