ARVADA, Colo. (Aug. 28, 2008) – The Orediggers battled with the Upper Iowa Peacocks from start to finish as the game ended in a 2-2 tie after two overtime periods.  CSM got on the board first in the 22nd minute on an Adrea Johnson goal courtesy of an Elizabeth Oba assist. The Orediggers tallied 10 shots in the first half while holding the Peacocks to just four to keep them off the board.  In the second half CSM held a shot advantage (12 to 5) but this time Upper Iowa was able to capitalize on two of their opportunities. Their first goal came off a corner kick in the 82nd tying the game. Mines answered 47 seconds later taking back the lead on an Alison Oien goal that snuck in just below the crossbar. Just 29 seconds later the scored was tied again with a goal by Jennifer Lee off a free kick.  CSM held an advantage in both shots (25 to 11) and corner kicks (7 to 4). Brianna Schulze (110:00) made five saves in the net.  The Orediggers (0-0-1) will square off against Augustana (SD) College on Sunday, August 31, at 12:00 pm at Long Lake Ranch Park.

An update in case RUSH wants college soccer news so younger players in the club can follow the college careers of players they know. Maggie scored her first collegiate goal for the University of San Diego Sunday and had 2 assists!!  She has been on the traveling team and has always practiced with the starters but hasn't had much playing time until last Friday. On Sunday she got her chance, after about 30 min., and  prove she could perform in a game at the same level she had in practice the past 2 weeks. She scored a few minutes after going in and had 2 assists before the game was over, including starting as forward the 2nd half. We will see what happens next Sun. when USD plays UCLA. Maggie says hello and would like to share this with Mike who did so much to prepare her to meet the CHALLENGES involved in achieving success playing at this level.  Read more...   (9/30/08)

In the first minute of the second half, freshman Carly Butcher gathered in a throw-in in Alabama territory and let rip a shot from about 16 yards out.
